I woke up with Beauty School Dropout in my head.  Oy.  Still spinning.

Yesterday was spent in a telegative state whilst my bro worked on his stuff. The upshot is we got it all done. It was a bit of trek, but he's in and now he can get that last class out of the way before he starts working on his Medic.

I'm so proud I could spit. Go Tom Go!

5 more days of the Tempest and 8 days til I skedaddle.  Plan accordingly.

Man Stuff

I had a great day with papa yesterday drilling, measuring, sawing and figuring out how to make some extra slats for a new bed they got for the guest room I've been haunting this summer. I enjoy that kind of work from time to time. It's great to work in a well appointed shop like my father's. Though he's down-sized the amount of stuff he still has what we need to get almost any job done.

Other than that I took care (I hope) of a bank snafu and did very little. It made me extra happy.

I then got to sleep in the new bed with it's lovely memory foam top. It is a great edition to the house and I think my aunts will love it. Perhaps you will if you get the opportunity to visit!

I look forward to a similarly easy day today. : )

Long Lazy Day

After Saturday night's fun (hey you got pictures at least!) I slept in late and made my way to the show.  I was graced with the Reverend Tommy Gunn, Tom and Stacey and the Fletchers (parents to a dear friend of mine who is in L.A. but will be back here for a film festival after I've gone to Chicago). Bummer.

Fayrene also attended with her niece Stella and I had the pleasure to lunch with them after the show at Lucky's in the Oregon. We were European in our pace and enjoyed a long lunch with winding conversation and then I got the chance to see some of Fayrene's new paintings.

She's on a to a new period combining 2 and 3-D concepts and Realism and Surrealism in bright colors. I like them a lot, but more importantly she's painting prolifically. I'm grateful she shared them with me.

She gave me a lift home and we sat and chatted with my folks for a bit before she took off.  Then I watched BREAKING BAD. A lot of it. And I'll probably finish it (such as it is - 8 episodes - Oy! Fuck you David Chase for setting that precedent) today.

I also have other errands, but we are really and truly off today. *contented sigh*

Naps, Beers and BBQ

After a restless night on the couch and many drexts and a late-night phone call or two I got up and watched the workshop production of GUARDING GOLD STREET featuring music by Sean Michael Flowers and performances by Sara Mackie and Kay Bosse among others. I was glad I got the chance to see it as our shows conflict with theirs. Good work all.

Then Bri and I cashed our checks at the horrible downtown Wright-Patt and had Smokin' BBQ for lunch.

I got Rib Tips. Yum!

I managed a quick nap and then met Tristan at Jeff Heater's bar-to-be, the up and coming Barrel House. For craft beer enthusiasts, it's gonna be a neat place. It's a fine location and I think will add a lot to Dayton's night life scene. I can't wait to see it open.

We were concerned that the show might get rained out, but we made it through with a solid run and then Bri and I visited with my folks for a bit. Nice night.

I didn't sleep well, but I drum some interesting things for an idea that has been burbling in my brain's back room, so I hope I'll nap again today before the show - if the weather holds . . .

Seeing as it is the first day of August, that is the the first day of the last month of the SSSS, I thought I might talk a little bit about #s before talking about yesterday's opening.

First off I'm in a better mood.  *phew*

As I said, it's August 1st. That means, at best, I'll be in Ohio for 15 days, just over 2 weeks more.

In that time you have 9 more opportunities to watch Zoot's very interesting Summer Series, this time in the form of the TEMPEST.

That's me on the left as the Goddess Juno! Yeah! : D

For all of you who have been swearing you'll make it, please do. Our Saturdays are even 7p now!  Yay! And I think you'll have a good time to boot.

So 9 days of shows in the next 15. Tweet seats are 50% off. Check with me if you wanna know about that.

Today I'm spending time with my folks, which I will continue to do, until/unless some of these outstanding Hang Outs are claimed. Please claim them. (I'd also like to see you friendly friends in general . . . let me know when/where is a good place for you . . .)

As of today, 8/6 and 8/13 are blocked out, I have a lunch on 8/4 and a closing event on 8/11. That means I still have lots of time. Accounting for shows, calls and sleep, I'd say I have about 80 hours open for Hanging Out before I leave town. 

That will fall by many hours daily (at least 7), so put in your bids!  

This is the last time I'll mention it here, but I'd sure like to make good on my commitments as I don't know how long it will be I get back here to the Buckeye State for any considerable amount of time. Of course you're all welcome to visit me in the 'Weird. For serious. Or meet me in Vegas this October . . .

For those of you in Chicago, I expect to be rolling into town in the evening of 8/15. I'll mostly be bunking in Old Irving Park at the G House. 

I will be with family in the deep Northwest Suburbs from 8/19 - 22 and with Master Mauloff in the not-so-deep suburbs during the day on 8/23.  I've also planned to attend an event in Logan Square in the afternoon on 8/18.  

I fly out in the evening on 8/29.

So if you'd like to claim me or have a sleep-over or have me meet you somewhere during my free days, please let me know and I'll get you on the calendar.  (If you're a donor, you've already got the link! If you want the link, ask for it!)

As of now I expect to be mostly Northsiding it on 8/16 and 17 and I'm open the evening of 8/23 (I think) and 8/24 until I leave on 8/29.  Let's get together!

Now for yesterday. We opened. We're awesome. Prospero has more in common with Faustus then we ever knew. His head fell off and JJ did the whole show in two pieces. Trooper.

Following the show I helped stuff Build-a-Puppet letters in the Zoot Administrative Office. It felt good to do something useful and I got to hang with JJ (Michael was in meeting mode) and then the nice young fella drove me home.

The dads had a dinner so I got a big hunk of slow-cooked beef and a nice chunk of alone time.

Perhaps that's why I feel better.
